Sideline Scout Swim Analysis:
For those looking to gain a competitive edge in the pool, our swim analysis using Sideline Scout technology is a great way to take your swimming to the next level. Sideline Scout is a video replay system used by various USA Olympic teams such as USA Swimming and USA Gymnastics, and at the USA Olympic Trials! A swim analysis can be a very beneficial tool for those wanting a detailed evaluation of their technique, form and performance. Our Sideline Scout cameras allow instant review of professional quality videos poolside so you can fix your form in real-time. Our functional medicine doctor, Amanda Sadler, MD holds the world’s fastest Ironman swim time, so it’s safe to say she can help you achieve your goals in the pool.
Sweat Testing:
At NMotion, we utilize sweat testing to help our clients optimize their training and hydration plans. Sweat testing is also used by the USA Rowing team and Olympic Marathoners, Triathletes and Kayakers to ensure that they are getting the proper hydration when training and competing. Although sweating is an effective way to help your body cool down while working out, it can also potentially cause the loss of too much fluid and electrolytes from the body. Results from sweat testing can help establish two key factors: your sweat rate (how much fluid you lose per hour) and the sodium concentration in your sweat. Our providers consider these two factors when putting together your personalized hydration and training plans. Other benefits of sweat testing include that it is non-invasive and can be performed in our office.
Cold Plunge:
One effective way to speed up your recovery after a training session is with cold plunging. Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian of all time, has been known to use cold plunging following his training. Even if you are not an Olympian, our Cryotherapy cold plunge, which reaches temperatures as low as 37°F/ 4°C is a great way to recover following a workout. Some of the benefits of cold plunging include:
- Reduced inflammation levels
- Pain relief
- Circulation stimulation
- Increased energy levels
- Improved mood
- Reduced muscle soreness
- Improved recovery and physical performance
Normatec Compression Therapy:
Normatec compression therapy is another great option to speed up recovery, so it’s no wonder that they are partners with the USA Track and Field, USA Swimming and Diving, USA Cycling, USA Volleyball and USA Boxing teams. Normatec can help reduce muscle soreness, swelling and inflammation, while also promoting faster recovery by flushing out metabolic waste products from the muscles. Normatec compression therapy sessions can be used to target the legs, hips or arms and typically last 20-30 minutes.
Lever and Boost Treadmills:
Lever and Boost Treadmills offer the ultimate running experience by using body weight-supported technology. Trusted by Flora Duffy, 2020 Summer Olympics triathlon gold medalist, these treadmills help to offload some of your weight to reduce joint impact from running and are available for use at NMotion. Designed to enhance your performance, reduce injury risk and optimize recovery, NMotion has two options for you to access this training tool. First, the Lever treadmill system can reduce up to 45 lbs of your body weight to make it easier for runners who are coming back from an injury or training multiple times per day. The second option is the Boost treadmill, which uses microgravity pressure technology to allow you to train longer and push yourself harder with the ability to adjust between 20-100% of your body weight. This dynamic training option is great for those athletes looking for a way to run with less injury risk.
Infrared Sauna:
Saunas are used at the Olympic Training Center and other Olympic Training sites as a way to relax and recover following a tough training session or event. At NMotion, we have an infrared sauna that offers many benefits to our clients looking to optimize their recovery. Infrared sauna therapy utilizes infrared light to create heat, which is then absorbed by the body to induce a range of therapeutic effects. Unlike traditional saunas that heat the air around you, infrared saunas penetrate the body’s tissues more deeply, resulting in a more comfortable experience at lower temperatures. Infrared sauna sessions typically last between 20 to 30 minutes and can be adjusted based on individual preferences. Benefits include anti-aging effects, detox, improved heart health, immunity, muscle recovery, relaxation, improved sleep, weight loss and more.
Gait and Functional Movement Analyses:
Gait and functional movement analyses, utilized at the Olympic Training Center and offered at NMotion, are useful for anyone looking to move or run “better.” A gait or functional movement analysis can be used to evaluate an individual’s form while moving or running to determine if there are any imbalances, weaknesses or compensations that are occurring that could be a contributing factor in causing injuries or otherwise impairing your performance. A good running form consists of many elements such as:
- Proper posture
- A strong and stable core
- Proper breathing techniques
- Efficient cadence
- Spring-like impact
- Allowing the upper body to set the rhythm
