Prolotherapy is an innovative technique that relieves pain by stimulating the body’s natural healing mechanisms to help repair chronically damaged ligaments, tendons, arthritic joints and other structures. A solution containing a natural irritant, dextrose, is injected into the injured soft tissues or joint. Most injuries will require three to six treatments for optimal outcomes. The number of treatments and duration between them is determined by the severity/chronicity of the injury and the progress patients are making with their pain and recovery. Return to activity and high-impact training is dependent on the specific injury and treatment plan. Research shows that more than 80% of people treated with prolotherapy report good or excellent results.
